The continuously renewed Hämeenaho decided to base the growth of their operations in improved leadership. The first step was to take a moment and recognise a need for help in improving leadership. Hämeenaho brought out Talentree leadership consultants as an outside source.
Pentti Hämeenaho Oy can show remarkable key numbers, years in leadership roles and personnel numbers, but the approach is in development and improvement. The initial idea was to create a new strategy for the company, but the improvement of managerial and leadership teams was added to the core of the work.
“We mapped out the strenghts of the members of our managerial team, so that we were able to clarify the roles, if possible,” explains Antti Pasanen, Sales Manager of Hämeenaho.
As a bonus aspect of the organised workshops, the managerial team was able to get to know each other, which in turn facilitates interaction.
“The team got to know each other, and even themselves, a little better,” summarises Antti on the teachings gained in addition to the improved leadership.
Leadership systems based on growth targets
Antti Haapakorva, founder and management consultant of Talentree Oy, mapped out the Hämeenaho growth targets together with Antti Sarpola, CEO of Hämeenaho, and Antti Pasanen, Sales Manager of Hämeenaho. The team was able to find a common way and direction for the development activities.
“The idea was to firstly improve on the management skills in a way that is required for growth,” Antti Haapakorva explains on the main target of the cooperation.
Leadership and strategy form a match. It needs to have an idea on where the company is going and what types of decisions are required for good things to happen.
“Without leadership, the story cannot come alive. So, the strategy provides the direction and the leadership sets the speed,” Antti Haapakorva explains on the relationship between strategy and leadership.

Requirements for good cooperation
For an external source to be able to improve on the business operation and leadership, the base has to be solid. The CEO of Hämeenaho is grateful that Talentree recognised what Hämeenaho does and what they want to improve.
“Talentree has guided out strategy work and development of our leadership team operations in a great way. We have been able to get a lot done during the workshop day,” Pauli Sarpola thanks Talentree.
